Repsol has risen with not good news, it is the Spanish company that pollutes the most. According to The Carbon Majors, it ranks 45th in the ranking. Together with the other 99 companies it is responsible for 70% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Environment Minister Modesto Montoya said that the cleanup of the coast affected by the oil spill is «advanced,» but expressed concern that it is being carried out superficially.
He also considered that the Repsol company is seeking to disregard its responsibility in this ecological disaster.
«There is an advanced cleaning of the coasts, but only the superficial part. In the islands we have visited we see a foam, we have found about 200 dead birds, 1 000 birds affected, and the Repsol company has not yet begun cleaning that foam, rather it is looking for reasons, pretexts, to show that they are not guilty of that foam, «said the minister.
Presidential vacancy
On the other hand, he referred to the requests for presidential vacancy in Congress, which he downplayed and, instead, mentioned that he has received the congratulations of legislator Jorge Montoya for his appointment in the office of the Environment.
«We have met on Wednesday and now we are all working in our sector, surely we will see this (the vacancy request) in the next Council of Ministers, that already depends on Congress, it is the one that has the responsibility,» he said.
«I take this opportunity to say that my, in quotes, political friend Jorge Montoya, who is one of the most opposed, called me and congratulated me on my appointment. I thank him and ask my namesake to calm down and as a soldier to join all of us who are fighting for the homeland,» he added.
Modesto Montoya said he is confident that they can obtain the vote of confidence of the Parliament and spoke for himself indicating that he has extensive experience in the sector; however, he indicated that each minister will have to give face for himself.
Meetings at the Government Palace
Some ministers of states held a meeting since the afternoon with the head of the Cabinet, Aníbal Torres, to discuss the environmental disaster generated by Repsol as well as other issues on the agenda.
Later, another group of ministers, including the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, held a meeting with President Pedro Castillo at the Government Palace.
Upon his departure, the head of Energy and Mines, Carlos Palacios Pérez, told the press that no member of the cabinet resigned at this meeting.
El ministro del Ambiente, Modesto Montoya, señaló que la limpieza de la costa afectada por el derrame de petróleo está “avanzada”, pero expresó su preocupación porque esta se lleva a cabo de manera superficial.
Asimismo, consideró que la compañía Repsol está buscando desentenderse de su responsabilidad en este desastre ecológico.
“Hay una limpieza de las costas avanzada, pero solamente la parte superficial. En las islas que hemos visitado vemos una espuma, hemos encontrado unas 200 aves muertas, 1 000 aves afectadas, y la compañía Repsol todavía no empieza la limpieza de esa espuma, más bien está buscando razones, pretextos, para mostrar que no son culpables de esa espuma”, dijo el ministro.
Vacancia presidencial
Por otro lado, se refirió a los pedidos de vacancia presidencial en el Congreso, a los cuales restó importancia y, en cambio, mencionó que ha recibido la felicitación del legislador Jorge Montoya por su designación en el despacho del Ambiente.
“Nosotros nos hemos reunido el miércoles y ahora estamos todos trabajando en nuestro sector, seguramente lo veremos esto (el pedido de vacancia) en el próximo Consejo de Ministros, eso ya depende del Congreso, es el que tiene la responsabilidad”, expresó.
“Aprovecho para decir que mi, entre comillas, amigo político Jorge Montoya, que es uno de los más opositores, me llamó y me felicitó por mi nombramiento. Le agradezco y le pido a mi tocayo que se tranquilice y como militar se una a todos los que estamos luchando por la patria”, añadió.
Modesto Montoya dijo confiar en que puedan obtener el voto de confianza del Parlamento y habló por su persona indicando que tiene amplia experiencia en el sector; sin embargo, indicó que cada ministro tendrá que dar cara por sí mismo.
Reuniones en Palacio de Gobierno
Algunos ministros de Estados sostuvieron desde la tarde una reunión con el titular del Gabinete, Aníbal Torres, para tratar el desastre ambiental generado por Repsol así como otros temas en agenda.
Más tarde, otro grupo de ministros, entre los que estaba el titular de Salud, Hernán Condori, mantuvo un encuentro con el presidente Pedro Castillo en Palacio de Gobierno.
A su salida, el titular de Energía y Minas, Carlos Palacios Pérez, señaló a la prensa que ningún miembro del gabinete renunció en esta reunión.
